Bad Debtors

Overview

UBA needed more built into an existing internal app; they had one screenshot of it and a document outlining everything required. No polished brief, no design system, just a starting point and a list of requirements to work from.

Their compliance team was working off a tool that didn't cover half of what they needed. Dense, sensitive data like loan details, IDs, blacklist reasons, and attachments had to fit into forms that still stayed usable for people checking hundreds of records a day.

I took it from there and designed the tool end to end: search, debtor records, compliance watchlist, approvals, and reporting. Every field had a reason to be there, so the work was mostly about order and clarity rather than decoration.

The pending approvals queue: a table of debtor records with status filters and a date range.
The bulk upload screen, showing a completed CSV upload and a data source selector.
Role configuration: a table of roles, what each can do, and how many users hold it.
Compliance name search, showing the warning state when a name returns no match on the watchlist.
User management: a table of staff accounts with role, status and last activity.
